Nipsey Hussle fans can look forward to new music from the late rapper.
During a recent interview on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, Nipsey's close friend and collaborator, J Stone, assured fans that a posthumous album is on the way. "It's so much music this ni**a done did. Like you wouldn't even imagine," he shared. "There's sh*t I haven't even heard when I thought I heard everything."
J Stone went on to discuss why Nipsey's inner circle has taken their time to release the posthumous album. "It's definitely going to be another Nip album. But, it's All Money In so we ain't going to put out nothing Micky," he said. "Rest in peace to [Pop Smoke]. I feel like if they would've held on to his music more and put it out the right way, it would've been received differently. But, the music was still good and we needed it at that time."
Last week, Nipsey's estate issued a statement on the tenth anniversary of the release of Nipsey's beloved mixtape The Marathon in which they revealed that a "live visual album experience" was in the works. "In commemoration of this anniversary we're proud to announce our collaborative effort with @okidokito bring to life an interactive live visual album experience coming in 2021," the statement, which was shared on social media, read. "The experience will give viewers an intimate look at the era that helped shape this masterpiece. The people, the places, the stories, and more. Stay tuned, official drop date coming soon!"
The later rapper, who was tragically shot and killed outside of his clothing store in March 2019, recently earned a posthumous Grammy nomination for his verse on Big Sean's "Deep Reverence." Nip was previously nominated three times in 2020 and posthumously won two of the Grammy awards.
