Grammy-nominated artist and superstar rapper DaBaby spread some holiday cheer this year when he gave more than 200 Charlotte children toys and other gifts as part of his "Billion Dollar Baby Christmas." The Charlotte native started the trend last year when he handed out hundreds of gifts to children in his hometown.
"2020 has been hard on all of us," the "Rockstar" rapper said. "Anything that I can do to make the load lighter on my city — I'm going to step up and do it."
DaBaby did just that on Christmas Eve as he, MaKid, Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment, Interscope Records, The MAC Agency and Foundation for Social Impact joined to provide a bit of holiday magic. They gathered at Eastway Drive Church of God to hand out toys and household necessities for families in need.
"This Christmas is unlike any other," said Serenity Virgil (MaKid), president of Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment. "To know how many families have experienced countless forms of loss, whether a job or family member due to COVID-19, is the reason we are on a mission to give back as big as we can."
This wasn't the first time in 2020 that DaBaby stepped up to help his community. On Thanksgiving, he transformed a parking lot into an outdoor restaurant to help feed more than 300 people in need as part of his "We All Eat" initiative.
