2020 hasn't exactly turned out to be what people hope it would. In fact, it has been the very antithesis of all the hope, fresh starts, and new adventures everyone anticipated the new decade to bring.
If it's any consolation, since there is no year zero on the Gregorian calendar, the new decade technically starts on January 1, 2021.
There is still hope to be had despite the ever-worsening global pandemic. And a recent study showing each state's most popular New Year's resolution proves that people are keeping their heads up.
By analyzing data on Google Trends, Zippia was able to determine every state's most popular New Year's resolution.
According to the study, Colorado's most popular resolution for 2021 is to meet new people.
Oklahoma was the other state also looking to meet new people in the new year.
Similarly, California, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, Utah, and the District of Columbia all had dating as their New Year's resolution.
Therapy was the most popular resolution in the U.S., according to the study.
Following closely behind was weight loss with 8 states wanting to focus on slimming down in the new year.
Although Zippia estimates that about 80% of resolutions fail, the good news is there will always be another new year to try again.
