Over the weekend, Candace Cameron Bure returned to Instagram after a short social media break to wish her followers a happy New Year. The Fuller House actress shared a new family photo, as well as a short but sweet message about looking ahead to better things in the coming months.

"Happy New Year from the Bures!! Looking forward to what 2021 has in store," she wrote. "I’m praying for unity, grace, humility, compassion and love for mankind. With God, all things are possible. Sending virtual hugs and kisses!"

The photo, which features Bure's children Natasha, Lev, and Maksim striking some model-esque poses, drew the attention of a few internet trolls. “What a weird pose your daughter’s doing,” one commenter wrote, while another added: “Why do your daughter and son look so angry?”

Never one to hold back on Instagram, Bure replied: “Wow – I post a family photo and you all find everything you don’t like about it or can make fun of. Do better than that. Please.” Her daughter replied, as well, writing: “Omg!!!! I didn’t smile or look at the camera. Sue me!!!”

Following the incident, Bure posted a lengthier response on her Facebook page. “I posted my family Christmas photo and sadly, there were so many unkind comments,” the actress lamented. “Do you think it’s funny to criticize someone’s children? To make jokes about them? To critique our poses? The direction in which we are looking? Our physical appearance and facial expressions?”

“There were plenty of well-meaning people who thought it would be funny to point out things and share their commentary, ‘with love.’ Umm… that’s not love. That’s rude,” Bure continued. “Try kind. It looks good on everyone.”
