When My Chemical Romance announced its reunion tour slated for last summer, there were immediate speculations that The Used would be joining them.
Those rumors were fueled by the band's lead singer, Bert McCracken, who told an audience last year, “you can probably catch us on tour with My Chemical Romance in the fall. We’ll see.” Then, The Used canceled its Slam Dunk performance and said an opportunity arose that they couldn’t pass up, which had many fans assuming the band meant the MCR tour.
McCracken later clarified that he was cracking a joke onstage but also revealed he had texted Gerard Way about wanting to tour. “I texted him and was like, ‘Dude, I hope you guys know that these are all just jokes to make us smile, but we would all be honored to tour with you,” he said at the time.
Sadly, like all shows, MCR's tour had to be rescheduled amid the novel coronavirus pandemic and we never found out if The Used would actually show up on the highly-anticipated tour.
But, a few days ago, all of that changed.
The Used's bassist, Jeph Howard, was live-streaming a video game and chatting with fans and one asked point-blank if they'd tour with My Chem again. His response?
“We would tour with My Chem again,” Howard replied. “We were supposed to be on a show or two on that last tour, we were supposed to be on a couple [of] shows I think.”
So there you have it, it looks like the band was going to tour. There is no word if the two iconic bands will be joining forces for the rescheduled dates so we'll just have to wait and find out.
