Sony's Marvel Universe film Morbius is getting a new release date after experiencing several delays.
Originally slated for March 19, the Jared Leto-led film has been pushed back seven months to October 8, according to Variety. The change in the theatrical release is due to the coronavirus pandemic. The comic book thriller is just one of many films that were meant to come out this spring and now being postponed.
We were first introduced to Morbius almost exactly one year ago when the film's first trailer dropped last January. Filming for the movie had been going on since 2019 when the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman shared behind-the-scenes images from the set.
The movie centers on the Oscar winner who stars in the lead role of Biochemist Michael Morbius. After finding out he has a rare blood disease, he goes to great lengths to try and cure himself, ultimately turning himself into a vampire. For comic book fans out there, Morbius is first seen in The Amazing Spider-Man #101.
If you're itching to see Leto on your TV, the Thirty Seconds to Mars singer just made his directorial debut for the A Day In The Life Of America documentary released Monday (January 11). He will appear in The Little Things at the end of this month on January 29 on HBO Max.
For more comic book goodness, we won't see Leto in the Suicide Squad sequel, but he will be returning as The Joker inZack Snyder's Justice League, which is slated to come out this year.
