Las Vegas Billionaire Sheldon Adelson Has Died

One of the richest men in the world has died.
Sheldon Adelson, Las Vegas casino mogul and GOP power broker, went on medical leave last week to resume his fight against Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
According to a statement from he Las Vegas sands Corporation, he reportedly died on Monday night in California from complications from his treatments, reported 8 News Now.
Adelson was the founder and CEO of the Las Vegas Sands Corporation, which owns the Venetian and Palazzo.
Dr. Miriam Adelson, who was married to Adelson for 32 years, stated, "Sheldon was the love of my life. he was my partner in romance, philanthropy, political activism, and enterprise. He was my soulmate."
Adelson was the son of Jewish immigrants and was raised in a Boston tenement. He sold newspapers on street corners as a teenager, only to become a billionaire in the latter half of his life.
According to Forbes, Adelson was ranked the 15th-richest person in the world in 2018 and stated that he was worth an estimated $35.5 billion.
The Las Vegas Sands said in a statement, "Mr. Adelson was adamant that our Team Members across the globe continue to receive full pay and health care benefits even while the buildings in which they worked were closed. There are countless additional untold stories of his warmth and generosity- efforts for which he never sought recognition or publicity and would only reply with a smile if asked about them."
Adelson will be buried in Israel. Memorial plans for Las Vegas will be announced at a later time.
