These South Carolina Cities Are Among The Best For Jobs In 2021

The job market has been tough for a while, but 2020 really took a toll on many workers around the country. With millions out of a job, people around the country are searching for their next career opportunity.

A new study by WalletHub compared more than 180 cities across the United States to determine which are the best (and worst) for finding a job in 2021. Two cities in South Carolina made the cut with one even cracking the top 20.

Here are the South Carolina cities that rank among the best for jobs.

  • Charleston (19)
  • Columbia (31)

Columbia and Charleston ranked first and third, respectively, in the country in terms of most job opportunities. Columbia also came in fifth overall for the shortest average work and commute time.

The 10 best cities for finding a job in 2021 are as follows:

  • South Burlington, Vermont
  • Columbia, Maryland
  • Virginia Beach, Virginia
  • Salt Lake City, Utah
  • Boise, Idaho
  • Scottsdale, Arizona
  • Chesapeake, Virginia
  • Seattle, Washington
  • Colorado Springs, Colorado
  • Plano, Texas

These are the 10 worst cities for finding a job, according to the list:

  • Hialeah, Florida
  • Shreveport, Louisiana
  • Detroit, Michigan
  • Brownsville, Texas
  • North Las Vegas, Nevada
  • Las Cruces, New Mexico
  • Gulfport, Mississippi
  • Bridgeport, Connecticut
  • Cleveland, Ohio
  • New Haven, Connecticut

To determine the list, WalletHub compared 182 cities across the country using two factors: job market and socioeconomics. These factors were then evaluated using 32 relevant metrics, including job opportunities, employment growth, job security, unemployment rate, job satisfaction, median annual income, transit score, housing affordability, safety, and more.
