Weld County voters may be asked if they want to live in Wyoming on the November ballot.

Some residents are pushing to redraw the state lines so that Weld County is included within Wyoming borders instead of Colorado.

The political committee "Weld County Wyoming" has taken the initiative to get a measure on the November ballot that would "instruct Weld County Commissioners to engage and explore the annexation of Weld County with the state of Wyoming's Legislature," according to FOX21.

"Can this be done? Yes, it can be done. Is it going to be easy? No," said Christopher "Todd" Richards in a meeting posted to YouTube.

Richards got the idea back in 2019 after he read an op-ed in the Denver Post. He then started a Facebook page and registered Weld County Wyoming in February 2020.

"We're going to move a county to a different state," he said. "We're not really moving. We're just moving a line."

If Weld County were to join Wyoming, the state's population would increase by over 50%, reports FOX21.

However, not everyone in the county is on board with the idea of leaving Colorado.

"I absolutely love living in Colorad," Greeley City Council member Tommy Butler told FOX31. "For those that don't love living here, there are certainly less ridiculous ways of moving to Wyoming."
