One of many concert casualties from the Great Pause of 2020 was the 'Hella Mega' world tour, featuring Green Day, Weezer and Fall Out Boy.
The pop-punk/alternative dream tour is currently scheduled to kick off in Europe in Vienna, Austria, on June 9 and arrive in the U.S. on July 14 in Seattle, Washington.
Despite ongoing COVID-related complications across the globe, Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo says his team is confident that the shows will go on, thanks to widespread distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
"My manager just told me yesterday that the U.S. promoter is still saying it's gonna happen," Cuomo told NME. "That could change, but I'm not making any other plans for the summer."
Weezer has a lot to look forward to in 2021. The band has a new album, OK Human, arriving this Friday and another, hard rock-inspired LP, Van Weezer, due in May.
If all goes well, the band will be able to promote both new records in front of eager audiences from June through August, in Europe, the U.K. and North America.
