A Shocking Number Of Arizona Restaurants Closed In 2020 Amid The Pandemic

Businesses all over the world were negatively affected by the global coronavirus pandemic in 2020, and those in Arizona were no exception.
According to an estimate from the Arizona Restaurant Association, between 10 percent and 12 percent of the 10,000 restaurants in Arizona closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, reported ABC 15. This amounts to anywhere from 1,000 to 1,200 restaurants, which is far above the the average.
On average, two to three percent of restaurants, or 200 to 300, close each year in Arizona, according to the Arizona Restaurant Association.
Nationally, about 110,000 restaurants temporarily or permanently closed last year, the National Restaurant Association said in its "2021 State of the Restaurant Industry Report."

Indoor dining is limited to 50% capacity at restaurants and bars under current mandates.
