Over the course of 2020, Rebel Wilson documented her "year of health" on social media. The Pitch Perfect actress detailed her goals in an Instagram post early last year, telling her followers her main focus was to lose 60 lbs. Wilson reached her "year of health" goals—and made a number of headlines along the way. During a recent interview, Wilson opened up about the experience, as well as how she's been treated differently since losing weight.
“I think what’s been really interesting to me is how other people treat you,” Wilson shared. “Sometimes being bigger, people didn’t necessarily look twice at you. And now that I’m in a good shape, like, people offer to carry my groceries to the car and hold doors open for you. I was like, ‘Is this what other people experienced all the time?'”
Wilson also said she was surprised by how much attention her 61lb weight loss received in the news, particularly because 2020 was such a challenging year for most people.
Though Wilson did lose weight, she was always open about how her ultimate goal was to live a balanced, healthy life. “I like to think I looked good at all sizes and stuff and I've always been quite confident,” she explained. “So, it wasn’t like I wasn’t confident and then now I’m, like, super confident.”
The Cats actress did joke, however, that she has definitely started sharing more photos of herself on Instagram over the past year. “You can tell that I post, like, a lot of photos of myself on Instagram. I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, loving myself,'” she said. “I know I should calm down a bit on that.”
