Cardi B is just full of surprises!
While on Thursday's (February 11) episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the "WAP" rapper shared the true meaning behind her latest single, "Up," and let's just say, the story is probably not what you expected.
Jimmy and Cardi's conversation about the meaning of "Up" began after the late-night talk show host asked Cardi to share the origin of the song's most popular lyric: "If it's up, then it's stuck."
Cardi recalled that she got the phrase from her husband Offset, who she said "says that a lot." The Bronx native then noted that she initially thought the phrase was a "Georgia thing" given that Offset, who's a Georgia native, taught it to her. However, she explained that her fans quickly informed her after the song's release that people from all over the South use the phrase.
Jimmy subsequently asked, what the phrase actually means.
"Um, so have you ever taken a poop, right, and it don't come out?" Cardi casually replied, seemingly catching Jimmy caught off guard as he looked down at his desk.
"It's just up and it's stuck. Yeah," Cardi added.
"Wow," he said, as Cardi nodded. "Alright," Jimmy continued. "I mean, I guess you can take from it whatever you want. There's other ways to look at it, I guess."
"It's a metaphorical quote," Cardi explained.
