The World's Strongest Man competition has announced a three-year deal with Visit Sacramento. The worldwide event will be hosted by Sacramento in 2021 and 2022.
A third year is expected to be announced sometime later, according to CBS13.
Previous World's Strongest Man competitions have drawn in 500 million households, according to IMG, producers of the event.
"We love bringing the competition to new places, and with the city's rich history, world-class facilities, and beautiful waterfront, it's the perfect fit," said Rebecca Levin, vice president of media at IMG, in a statement.
A location in Sacramento has not yet been announced but audiences should expect a modified competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We worked with Sacramento County's Public Health Department and, because this is an outside event, they felt it could be done safely," said Mike Testa, president, and CEO of Visit Sacramento.
The annual competition tests the physical limits of competitors by having them lift objects like logs and trucks.
The winner from 2020, Oleksii Novikov partially deadlifting 1,185 pounds. Not only did he win the competition, but he broke a world record in the process.
This year's World's Strongest Man competition will take place from June 15 to June 20. It will be broadcast on CBS and CBS Sports Network.
