Cat's Facebook Pics Prompt Directions From Exorcist: Pray 'Over And Over'

Pixel and Sophie have a promising social media following.
And, possibly, a demon.
Alyson Kalhagen recently got a Facebook message from a self-proclaimed exorcist. The message warned her that Pixel has a cloud behind him — and it’s a demon.
And it’s using Pixel as a puppet.
The demon doesn’t know how to use the cat’s body yet, so it’s practicing by using his face, the Facebook message read.
The exorcist went on to urge Kalhagen to “just pray…over and over in front of your cat,” and to cage Pixel so he can’t escape while she prays the demon away. “Good luck with your cat,” the exorcist said.
The story has since been widely shared, including by the New York Post, Daily Mail and the Sun.
Pixel, a 2-year-old Cornish Rex, bears big round eyes and a fanged smile.
Fans can find his pictures on Instagram and Facebook, along with his half sister Sophie, a white, blue-eyed Cornish Rex who will turn 2 in May.
The cats are “entirely the goofiest creatures that you’ll ever meet,” reads their Facebook page, which now includes posts with references to the alleged demons.
Kalhagen explained that her award-winning Cornish Rex cats “definitely have a unique look.”
She explained how she started sharing photos of the unique duo:
“When I got Pixel and Sophie, I wanted to show them for fun as a hobby. When the pandemic hit, all the cat shows had to shut down, and I began posting photos of them to their Facebook page as a way to keep having fun showing them off and engaging with other cat lovers. I had hoped to sort of highlight the elegance of the breed, but Pixel in particular has a really clownish personality that tends to come across in his photos. For one thing, he smiles a lot, which makes for some really hilarious pictures.”
I'm just trying to drag myself out of bed and Pixel is already hard at work calculating the square root of "chicken." 1kitty x (late breakfast) = Meow³

One photo garnered thousands of shares on Facebook, and a day or two later, the exorcist contacted Kalhagen.
“Knowing what a sweet cat Pixel really is, I laughed it off and forgot about it until I logged onto Facebook last week and noticed that the name of a group I was in had suddenly changed,” Kalhagen recalled.
The name of the group went from “Animals in Predicaments Posting” to “Satanists in Predicaments Posting.”
“According to admins, they were working with Facebook to get the group name changed back, but it was going to take up to 30 days. As you might imagine, some of the posts and comments they were getting were pretty chaotic, but I thought it might be funny to share the story of Pixel's ‘demon’ and the message I received from the exorcist since it sort of tied the animal/satan theme together. The next thing I knew, the post blew up and had been shared thousands of times,” Kalhagen explained.
If nothing else, the exorcist’s message seems to have boosted Pixel’s popularity, according to Kalhagen. In an email to iHeartMedia, she promised to keep the photos coming:
“I am so shocked and surprised at the response Pixel's story has gotten and the outpouring of support that he has received has been really incredible! It's really nice to know that people get a smile out of looking at his photos, and it's nice to know that we are able to brighten people's day. We plan to keep on posting photos, demon or not.”
She added:
“Their page has grown immensely the past week and while we do get the occasional negative comment, I'm not bothered as so many people have reached out since this happened to tell me how much Pixel's photos brighten their day and make them smile. All the attention he has been getting is surprising and humbling, and we hope to be able to show people that even a demon can be a very good boy.”
