Playhouse Square is starting to plan in-person shows again after taking a hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials shared some news about the highly-anticipated KeyBank Broadway Series lineup, slated to make a comeback in Fall 2021. Further details will come during a virtual broadcast on Wednesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. Playhouse Square will explain how to tune in at a later time, according to the announcement on Tuesday (March 9).

Playhouse Square will also release health and safety protocols for audience members at a later date, according to the release.

Playhouse Square President & CEO Gina Vernaci said in a separate note that officials will work with University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic to make sure plans are in place to return safely.

"Spring - a time of renewal and rebirth - is just around the corner, and it is with great joy that I can share Playhouse Square is beginning to reemerge as well,” Vernaci said.

As of Tuesday, audiences know to expect two shows postponed from last spring because of the pandemic: Jesus Christ Superstar and My Fair Lady. Now, the shows are slated for February 2 through 20, 2022 and June 7 through 26, 2022, respectively.

Audience members who held tickets for the original show dates should expect to hear from Playhouse Square.

“Cleveland audiences are always eager for this annual announcement, which usually coincides with a live event in our theaters for our season ticket holders and donors,” Vernaci in the release. “While we wish we could share this news in person, preparing for our virtual broadcast fills us with hope and anticipation for audiences to experience the magic of Broadway they love so much.”
