A San Antonio strip club won't go down with out a fight.
XTC Cabaret used a power generator to keep its lights on over the weekend after the city of San Antonio shut off its utilities. The city cut the club's water and power in an attempt to shut it down.
The club has been cited multiple times for violating the city's COVID-19 protocols. In 2021 alone, the club received eight citations for operating without permits and for bartenders not wearing face masks.
The city has been trying to close XTC since November "for continually and deliberately violating the orders and thereby putting people at risk," Mayor Ron Nirenberg said last year.
The club was already warned by the city that it had to fix its social distancing violations.
"We had to stop what they were doing. They had so many health and safety violations. And they weren't making any progress to fix it. So we just couldn't tolerate it anymore," said Director of San Antonio Developmental Services Department Michael Shannon told WOAI in November.
Last year, the club was also accused of prostitution and selling alcohol without a license.
