Ashe just received the best gift from her hero, Carole King!
On Wednesday (March 10), the "Moral of the Story" singer took to Instagram to post a reaction video while opening a gift from the legendary singer and it did not disappoint.
“An outrageous gift 😭😭😭😭 you don’t understand, this is my hero…” Ashe wrote in the video's caption and added “I'm unwell” in a comment on the post.
As you'll see, she started to freak out just at the sight of King's memoir, A Natural Woman, and her face turned to complete shock when she saw the front page.
King had personalized the inside of the book just for Ashe and left a sweet note for the singer. “Oh my gosh! Are you being serious right now?” she yelled while trying to process the note with a series of adorable gasps.
The 27-year-old was overcome with emotion after reading it and even shed a few tears while expressing how cool it was to receive such a gift. The note read: “For Ashe, I'm so happy you're carrying the songwriting torch forward. All my best, Carole King. March 1, 2021.”
It should come as no surprise just how big of a role King plays on Ashe's music. She decided to add the 'e' to the end of her name because her hero had done the same. “The ‘e’ on Ashe comes from Carole King because she was just C-a-r-o-l before becoming an artist and added the ‘e’ afterward and so I added It when I became an artist as well,” she said in 2017.
She further explained King's influence on her own music and career saying, “Some of my biggest inspirations are Carole King and Diane Keaton. They are these incredibly humble women of character. They love what they do and deflect some of the love pointed towards them. I take that as them saying, ‘I’m simply a vessel for my art.’ And that’s how I want to be seen.”
