Nikki Sixx undercut a dubious Internet auction of a shirt he purportedly wore during Mötley Crüe's last show back in 2015.

The listing on eBay Canada claimed that the shirt was "owned" and "worn" by Sixx during the last show of Crüe's 'Final Tour' on New Year's Eve 2015. The asking price for the black long-sleeved button-down with white skulls printed on it was nearly $20,000.

Sixx got wind of the listing over the weekend. After looking into it, he snapped a screenshot of the listing to share on Instagram Story, writing, "Not my shirt."

Loudwire later confirmed that there are images of Sixx wearing a similar garment during the band's performance of "Home Sweet Home" that night. But his denial of the shirt's authenticity appeared to put an end to the auction. By Tuesday evening, the listing had been removed and the page was no longer available to view.

Sixx and many other rockers of his generation have been outspoken over the past year in their battle against scammers targeting their fans.

In January, the Mötley Crüe co-founder and his wife appeared on an episode of Dr. Phil to help a woman who had been catfished into thinking she and Sixx had been speaking regularly via social media.

Poison frontman Bret Michaels, who has been pleading with fans to be on the lookout for scams, appeared on the same episode.

"It is unbelievable the amount of Bret Michaels imposters out there reaching out to my amazing fans, friends and family, and trying to scam them," Michaels said in a PSA in January. "I'm telling all of you during this pandemic — people are feeling frustrated, isolated and vulnerable — please do not fall for these scumbags."

Last spring, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee announced that he was done opening fan mail after he started seeing items he had signed for fans being sold online as memorabilia.
