A Day To Remember Reminds Us What Matters In 'Everything We Need' Video

A Day To Remember just released its highly-anticipated seventh studio album, You're Welcome, last Friday (March 5) and the band just shared the video for the album's closer, "Everything We Need."

Frontman Jeremy McKinnon stars in the song's video which starts with the Florida natives closing out a concert (RIP, remember those?). The song, which like its tracklist mates, takes on a newer sound for the band, and this one is a little more laid back than the band's usual sound.

The camera follows McKinnon driving down Southbound I-75 making his way back home while singing, “I’m doin buck 20 on I-75 / 75 / 75 / Just to see if I’m dead or alive / Dead or alive / Dead or alive.”

In a recent interview with Kerrang!, McKinnon opened up about the meaning behind the song and how the subject of the song has grown since previous songs on the album.

“You get from 'Only Money' to 'Everything We Need' and this person is very much reflecting on, ‘Maybe I don’t have everything that I wanted in life, but I have everything that matters,’" he explained. “I know it sounds cliché to say that, but for me personally, the things that actually matter in my life I have, and I’m grateful for it.”

As to drive this point home (literally), the end of the video shows McKinnon pulling up to his house and grabbing his acoustic guitar where the video then cuts to him singing the song live. During the last 50 seconds of the song, his wife and daughter make an appearance that caught fans off-guard in the best possible way.

“Okay that ending was wholesome and definitely the energy we need in 2021,” one fan wrote while another said, “Holy s*** that acoustic ending and seeing Jeremy's daughter at the end gave me goosebumps.”
