Georgia is reaching another milestone in its COVID-19 vaccine rollout.

Beginning Thursday (March 25), all Georgians age 16 and older will be eligible, Gov. Brian Kemp announced in a press conference on Tuesday (March 23). Georgia Department of Public Health Commissioner Dr. Kathleen Toomey also spoke at the press conference, along with Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency Director Chris Stallings.

"I just want to encourage everyone to get the vaccine," Kemp said. He added that the vaccine “is a medical miracle. It's safe, it's effective."

Tuesday’s announcement beats Kemp’s previous goal of expanding eligibility to all Georgia adults by early April, 11 Alive reported.

One way to book an appointment to get a COVID-19 vaccine is at myvaccinegeorgia.com, which can be used for state-run vaccination sites.

The Georgia Department of Public Health also launched an online search tool to help Georgians find a COVID-19 vaccination site near them.

The vaccine locator is broken down county-by-county.

The Georgia Department of Public Health has reported more than 844,000 confirmed cases statewide as of Tuesday, the latest data available. Data also show that Georgia has administered more than 7,600,000 total PCR tests, with about 819,000 positive tests (about 10.7%).
