A Florida man is facing charges after authorities said he struck his daughter in the face with a slice of pizza, according to The Smoking Gun.
The alleged assault happened Sunday (May 23) when cops were called to the victim's Vero Beach home. Police officers reportedly found the 20-year-old victim with “what looked to be tomato sauce on the left side of her face.” When they entered the residence, they saw that the ground floor was "covered with pizza toppings," as well, according to an arrest affidavit.
The victim told officers her father, 41-year-old Tyler Worden, dropped by her hole to deliver a pizza. She allegedly told Worden she wasn't feeling well and asked him to leave. This evolved into an argument, and when she sought to close the front door, that's when the father allegedly threw a pizza slice at her daughter, authorities said.
Worden admitted to throwing the pizza at her daughter, but he claims he thought the door was shut at the time. An officer said he noticed a "strong odor" of alcohol on the father's breath.
The 41-year-old was booked into the Indian River County jail on the misdemeanor charge of battery. He was released on bond Monday (May 24) and ordered to not have any contact with his daughter.
