Sacramento residents have noticed swarms of cockroaches crawling through their neighborhoods.
Pest control companies have also noted that they're seeing a surge in calls about infestations.
According to CBS13, some of the biggest concerns are coming from residents in the Pocket area.
The roaches are often found in the garage and tend to come out at night.
“I’d be chillin’ and there would be a cockroach just running around and I’d get scared,” one resident Jason Venegas told CBS13. “I’ve probably seen like 60 maybe, yeah I’ve seen a lot."
Three Sacramento pest control companies told CBS13 they have been seeing a surge in calls about cockroach infestations.
However, this isn't an uncommon situation. Cockroaches prefer warmer temperatures and come out more during the summer.
Some residents were fast to point fingers at the city of Sacramento, suggesting that the city had stopped spraying for bugs in the nearby sewers.
"Nothing has changed with the city's application of insecticides in its sewers," city officials told CBS13.
The answer still doesn't help the many residents who are having to deal with an increase of roaches in warmer weather.
Exterminators said this problem can be avoided with regular spraying which works the best if all of the neighbors are doing it.
