At least six people were injured Wednesday when a pedestrian bridge collapsed in Washington D.C.
- The bridge gave way at about noon, sending pedestrians and rubble raining down onto Interstate 295, authorities say. Several cars were trapped under the debris, police say. Four of the victims were rushed to hospitals, while two were treated at the scene, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.
- As of 3 p.m. EST, I-295 remained closed in both directions as a hazmat team worked to clean up fuel that was spilled when a tanker was struck by a large chunk of the bridge, emergency crews report.
- Authorities say they'll release more information on the collapse as it becomes available.
