Hundreds of South Floridians have taken to the streets in solidarity with Cuban demonstrators over troubling socioeconomic conditions and the COVID-19 pandemic in the country. Cuban and American flags have been flying from crowds alongside signs and chants for freedom. A new hashtag, #SOSCuba, has also sprung up to signal one's support for the cause.
Now, high-profile figures are voicing their support for protesting Cubans. Some celebs have made social media posts while others have shared videos of the unrest unfolding in the country:
Camilla Cabello
This Cuban-American singer took to Instagram to post a black box with just #SOSCUBA and the Cuban national flag. Camilla Cabello spoke about the dire conditions in the country and called on her audience to spread awareness. Here's the full caption:
"Hey guys, there is a major crisis right now in Cuba and we need your help to spread awareness. Deaths from COVID are rising rapidly and because of the lack of medicine, resources, basic necessities and even, food many people are dying.
Right now, there are simultaneous protests in more than 5 cities in Cuba. Our brave people took the streets to protest for this humanitarian crisis and the people of Cuba need our help urgently. Please spread this message by posting #SOSCUBA to your feed to help bring awareness and support to my people 🙏🏼 #SOSCuba #PatriaYVidaCuba"

Eva Mendes
Eva Mendes reposted Cabello's post calling on people to spread the word about the Cuban people's crisis. "Reposting my fellow hermana Cubana @camila_cabello. Please help spread awareness. Please comment on any updates/ information you may have. I stand with my people," the Cuban-American actress wrote in her post along with a translated version in Spanish.
Gloria Estefan
Miami native and beloved singer Gloria Estefan posted a video on Instagram showing hundreds of Cuban protestors taking to the streets and chanting for change. "The Cuban people are reaching their breaking point!" she wrote in the post. "I stand with them as I always have! #SOSCuba."
Pitbull
Famous rapper Pitbull also voiced his support for the Cuban people with a photo of himself wrapped in the Cuban national flag. "Freedom is everything. We support the Cuban people in their fight for freedom in Cuba," he wrote. "Libertad, ya viene llegando. #SOSCUBA." The post has over 150,000 likes as of Tuesday. Pitbull has been vocal about conditions in the country for years.
Daddy Yankee
One of the minds behind the viral "Despacito" song, singer Daddy Yankee posted on Twitter simply saying #SOSCuba along with the national flag.
