U.S. News & World Report released their newest annual Best Places to Live list.

The 150 Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2021-2022 list analyzed the most populous metro areas.

"To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life," reads their website.

San Diego was featured on the annual list but took a large dip in its ranking. The city was ranked as the 97th best place to live in the country.

According to Patch, that's 52 spots down from where they ranked on the list in 2020.

The city's overall score was 6.3 out of 10. Here's what the local expert had to say about San Diego:

"San Diego offers world-class dining, professional sports and entertainment options typical of a large metro area, but the patchwork of distinct neighborhoods fosters strong community ties. Residents gather at festivals and farmers markets, meet friends at beaches and parks, and regularly bump into friends and acquaintances at local bars and restaurants."

This year's list was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. On top of their usual methodology, researchers looked into how communites fared in the pandemic and how much work is needed to recover.
