Venomous Cobra On The Loose In Dallas Suburb

A dangerous animal is on the loose in Grand Prairie authorities are warning residents.
The owner of a West African banded cobra reported that the snake went missing from his home in the 1800 block of Cherry Street, near Interstate 30 and Belt Line Road, on Tuesday around 6 p.m.
"Animal Services, the owner, and a venomous snake apprehension professional actively searched for the snake inside and outside of the residence through the night with no success," Grand Prairie Animal Services told NBC DFW.
The owner told local news outlets that it is possible that the snake is dead or stuck between the home's walls. However, people are still being warned because "this particular species of snake is highly venomous and aggressive," according to the Grand Prairie News.
Nearby hospitals have also been notified about the snake so they can be prepare in case anyone is bitten.
The snake is around 6 feet long and is black and beige. People are being told not to touch or approach the snake if found and to call 911 or animal services at 972-237-8575.
