While it's common knowledge that Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray starred on One Tree Hill together, some may forget that the actors were briefly a couple off-screen. The pair tied the knot in 2005, when they were both just 21-years-old, and split five months later.

During a recent appearance on the Inside of You podcast, Bush explained to host Michael Rosenbaum why she feels she's "not allowed" to speak out her ex-husband publicly. "I've tried to poke fun at being a dumb kid and whenever I've done that, it gets twisted into I'm talking s**t about somebody who I don't even know anymore, who's clearly a grown-up," she said.

"I think you have to laugh at who you used to be," she continued. "When people ask me about history that involves someone else…it's not worth my time. It's not a place where I harbor ill will or anything."

Bush admits that whenever she tries to make light of her short-lived marriage, it never comes across the way she intends. "I've tried to like, you know, do the thing where when I get stuck live on the air—which has happened to me twice—getting asked about it where I give a little...like jazz hands quip and move on," she said. "It just doesn't work, so I'm not going to."

At the end of the day, Bush says she was simply "a very naïve 21-year-old kid and that's all there is to it." Being as young as she was when she tied the knot, Bush says her brain wasn't even fully developed yet. "I think lots of people do stupid s--t before their prefrontal cortexes are fully formed and they're not until they're 26," she explained. "So you do the math on my timeline. I literally didn't have a whole brain."

Bush went on to star in all twelve seasons of One Tree Hill, while Murray departed after the sixth season.
