Here's The Latest On The Wildfires Burning In Oregon

Ongoing drought and multiple heat waves created perfect conditions for fires to break out in the Pacific Northwest this season. Oregon in particular has seen double the amount of large fires by July 31 compared to the same time last year, according to the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center (NICC).
Over 500,000 acres have been burned so far in 2021, and hundreds to thousands of people had to evacuate their homes at some point just to escape the flames. The Bootleg Fire accounted for most of the acres burned, clocking in over 413,000 acres as of August 1. It was contained on August 15, 2021.
Even though several fires have been put out since May, more continue to rage across the state.
As of Wednesday afternoon there are still 32 large uncontained 🔥 fires and complexes in the Pacific Northwest -- 13 in Oregon and 19 in Washington. This translates to 829,285 acres of active uncontained fires.
