A suspected drunk driver's ride came to an end after their vehicle ended up in a trench Monday (August 16), KIRO 7 reports.
Police in Puyallup, Washington said an unidentified person drove through a construction zone barriers, heading toward a crew working inside a trench. Three workers were able to get out of the trench seconds before the car crashed into the gap.
When officers gave a breathalyzer test to the alleged impaired driver, they said it yielded a blood alcohol level of .200. That's more than four times the legal limit, police noted.
Authorities also shared some photos from the scene, including the suspect's car being lodged bumper-first in the trench. One image also shows a fire crew on scene.

"Don't drink and drive," the police department simply said.
People in the comments of the Facebook post also spoke about how scary the situation must've been for the workers involved. They also called for more protections for such workers.
"Very annoying and dangerous for workers," one person wrote. "I’ve been working some as an inspector on construction sites and the amount of people who don’t read the signs and chose to ignore flaggers is baffling."
"Getting to the point where those cement freeway barriers need to be set up to protect the workers," another commentator said. "Signs and wood barriers do not protect the workers."
