A semi-truck driver wasn't prepared for a strange piece of debris flying through his vehicle's windshield on an Oregon highway, KATU reports.

The wild incident went down Monday morning (August 16) on Oregon Highway 97 between Redmond and Madras, according to Jefferson County Sheriff Marc Heckathorn. Authorities said the semi-truck was traveling northbound until debris from a passing vehicle came flying off.

The debris reportedly smashed through the passenger window and left half of the windshield caved in. Pictures posted by the sheriff's office show the extensive damage.

"Thankfully there was no one in the passenger seat of the semi when the object pierced through the window of the semi," Sheriff Heckathorn said. "The driver was not injured and pulled his truck safely off the roadway and waited for help."

He added that the projectile "appeared to be a black John Deere seat that was bolted to a piece of plywood that was painted black."

Many drivers throughout the United States have had strange accidents occur from head-scratching objects. One passenger in a car had a turtle knocked into her head during a drive in Florida. An Arizona driver was lucky to be alive after a pole pierced his windshield and nearly impaled him.
