Twenty One Pilots' "Saturday" music video is a cinematic masterpiece, so it's no surprise it took three days to film. Over the weekend, the duo shared a "Beyond the Video" mini-documentary to give fans a glimpse behind the scenes of the grandiose shoot.

Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun crack jokes during the entirety of the clip, revealing that they've coordinated everything to match (even their undies) and giving a tour of the submarine they used on set.

“Here we are, we’re on set of the music video for our song ‘Saturday,’ which is a great song. If you don’t think so, then you’re a buffoon,” Dun said. “Today we’re shooting on a boat, then we transfer over to a submarine on the outside. And then what happens is we go inside the submarine, perform in there, and then we get attacked. It’s a super dangerous shoot because once we’re underwater and the glass breaks, water comes shooting and it’s super dangerous because we only have a couple minutes to escape with the band and all our camera gear or else we sink forever and we die.”

Later, the video shows how they actually filmed the disaster scene in a pool with a replica submarine set.

Speaking of special effects, Dun also divulged how they shot him singing the infamous high note. “I cannot hit that note, so at the moment where the camera cuts to me for the scream, I pretty much just went ‘woooooah,’” he said with a laugh.

Throughout the mini-doc, Andrew Donoho explains different parts of the process and at the end calls it “one of the most challenging shoots” he’s ever done. “Easily the most moving parts of any music video production I’ve been a part of,” he confessed, but the final product was definitely worth it.
