Goodbye UNCC, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte has a new name.
While the school's formal name will remain The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, officials are reintroducing the school as simply "Charlotte." In order to clear up some "confusion" from its previous moniker UNCC, Charlotte has fully adopted the simpler nickname for casual references. Additionally, the school's URL has changed from uncc.edu to charlotte.edu, with all school email addresses reflecting the new change by late 2022.
"We've grown. And so has our city," the university said on its website. "As we shape what's next, we're bringing Charlotte to the forefront. This is a first step of a larger rebranding effort that will continue throughout the fall as we share the pride of Charlotte with the world — a strong dynamic University, boldly charging into the future, much like the city we are part of."
With Charlotte at the forefront, we are boldly charging into the future and owning our growth alongside the city we call home.

In addition the name change, Charlotte introduced its new "All-in-C" logo, designed by an alumnus of the university in tribute to its "trailblazing spirit."
"The All-in-C represents the power to break ground," the university said, "the persistence to discover the unknown and the promise to build the future."
