Lil Nas X is less than a month away from the release of his debut album, Montero.

On Wednesday (August 25), the superstar made the announcement, revealing that the highly-anticipated set will drop September 17 via Columbia Records. In his video teaser for the LP, which included a snippet of a new song, Nas poked fun at his public image as he appeared as a news anchor and referenced the plot of his most recent video for "Industry Baby." "Power bottom 'rapper,' Lil Nas X and his Caucasian friend led a prison escape this morning. This comes after the talentless homosexual was sentenced to five months in prison," he told viewers.

"Creating this album has been therapy for me," he said in a statement for the project. "I've learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own." Montero will include "Industry Baby," which features Jack Harlow, as well as "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" and "Sun Goes Down."

In an hour-long conversation for YouTube series, Kerwin Frost Talks, the chart-topper said that beyond the eye-popping videos is music with substance. "It's all connecting to one little world," he explained of the LP. "It's pretty cohesive. It’s very much straightforward, like OK, this Montero: This is how I feel about the future, about this past event, about this current thing going, this part of my love life, this part of family, this part of my career, you know? I really wanna let people to get to know Montero. It’s definitely deeper, but it still has its bops."
