When you think of fast food, many iconic brands come to mind: McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, Sonic's. These brands may have a national and even international foothold, but they're not the only game in town.

The rapid rise of fast-food restaurants has inspired regional chains in various states, cities, and towns. While they may not be as big as KFC or Burger King, they have a special place in the hearts of their local customers.

With that said, which regional fast-food chain is keeping its guests happy in California? According to Mashed, which gathered the most popular brands in each state, that restaurant chain is...

The Habit Burger Grill!

What's funny about this selection was that writers had to sample burgers from both In-N-Out and The Habit to decide the best burger. There's a longstanding rivalry between the two restaurants, but Mashed decided that The Habit is the winner.

Anyways, here's what the website had to say about the chain:

"The Habit began as a small family-run chain with five locations, but once people got a taste of its flame-grilled charburgers, The Habit's reputation grew and boasts over 49,000 locations worldwide. The Habit also offers sumptuous sandwiches (line-caught, sushi grade tuna, anyone?), salads, and sides that reflect the company's California roots. You should try both competitors (though In-N-Out has only 268 locations in five states) and decide for yourself. But we think you'll agree with all of The Habit's many fans."
