A former Seattle Seahawks player is venturing into the culinary world again.
Marshawn Lynch, who used to play as a running back for the team, is partnering with Portland restauranteur Kevin Yamada to open a new business in the city's downtown, KPTV reports. The sports-themed restaurant will be called BEAST, a nod to his "Beast Mode" persona during his time with the NFL.
A news release says it will be next to Hotel Vance and serve Hawaiian cuisine. The business will also be feature recipes from Lynch's Filipino grandmother or inspired by her.
Yamada also has a background in Hawaiian cuisine -- he opened a restaurant, Kama’aina Comfort Foods of Hawaii, a couple of years ago.
This isn't Lynch's first go-round with restaurants. SFGate reported that the former Seahawk took over an Emeryville, California restaurant in 2017 and named it after his late friend, Robert Benjamin.
BEAST is expected to open this fall in either September or October, reporters learned.
Lynch was a popular figure during his six seasons with Seattle, usually topping the team's long list of highlights, KPTV says. He built a reputation for breaking tackles and running over defenders before he retired in 2019.
