Money magazine released its list of the 50 best places in live in the U.S. in 2021-2022 and three Texas cities made the cut.
The financial magazine chose its top cities based on how they did in nine different categories: cost of living, economic opportunity, diversity, education, fun, safety, housing market, personal finances, and quality of life. This year's list also highlighted cities that are affordable to live in.
The top rated city in Texas was Flower Mound, which was #4 overall. It ranked so high because of it's proximity to major cities, like Dallas, and it had the highest job growth of any place on Money's list over the last five years.
Flower Mound was also praised for its "small-town feel," 100% high school graduation rate, and abundance of family-friendly activities to do around Grapevine Lake.
A second city in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro also made the list. Frisco was #19 overall because the "town is brimming with opportunities for (sports) fans." Frisco has every major sport because it's home to the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas, the Frisco RoughRiders, and soon the PGA. The city has also seen jobs grow by 21% between 2015 and 2020.
The final Texas city to make the list was Round Rock at #25. The suburb's population has boomed because of how close it is to Austin and its ever growing job market.
Round Rock made the list because of its housing options and "robust education opportunities," including highly rated high schools and a regional campus of Texas State University.
