Here's Why Security Lines At DIA Have Been So Long

If you've traveled recently and noticed the lines at Denver International Airport have been congested, you're not the only one.
According to FOX31, last week Transportation Security Administration screened over 328,000 passengers at DIA. Officials say that's about 90 to 95% of pre-pandemic numbers.
TSA officials told FOX31 Problem Solvers that all 23 security lines are currently open and staffed but it still isn't enough for the high volume of traffic. Especially in the mornings when airlines book their large flights all at the same time.
TSA currently has national staff temporarily working at DIA but the airport is looking to fill 1,500 openings across the airport.
“That brings us to why Pikes Peak and Mt. Elbert shuttle lots are still not open,” DIA spokesperson Alex Renteria told FOX31. “The main reason why the shuttle lots are not open right now is because of our staffing shortages.”
Every lot has about 10,000 open spots and drivers needed to service the lots around the clock.
“We really hope to have the shuttle lots open at the end of the year but it’s all dependent on people who can drive the shuttles,” said Renteria.
DIA is hosting a job fair on Wednesday, September 29. You can find more information here.
