According to a new report, San Francisco is not the most expensive city to live in in the United States for the second month in a row, reports KRON.
A September 2021 Zumper report revealed that New York City remains the most expensive city to rent a one-bedroom apartment.
However, San Francisco did come in second.
Zumper's August 2021 report saw New York City rise above San Francisco for the first time since 2014 when the company started tracking renting data, according to KRON.
Last month's report showed a $10 difference in the median one-bedroom rent rate with New York City's median rent being $2,810 and San Francisco's $2,800.
But this month's report shows a $150 difference with the median rent in New York City rising to $2,950.
Out of the top 10 most expensive rental rates in the U.S., five are in California and three are in the Bay Area: San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland.
Zumper found that "the City of Los Angeles is among the West Coast markets where rent remains down considerably relative to where it was before the pandemic.”
Here are the top 10 most expensive rental prices in the country as of September 2021:
- New York, NY: $2,950
- San Francisco, CA: $2,800
- Boston, MA: $2,410
