Mercy Lounge, one of Nashville's longtime music venues, will soon close its doors on Cannery Row after nearly 20 years.

The iconic venue took to social media on Thursday (September 30) to announce it will be relocating its complex to a new, undisclosed location when its lease ends in May 2022. No other details have been announced.

"We hope to be back better than ever. Let's make these last 8 months on Cannery Row the best ever!"

According to the Nashville Scene, Mercy Lounge is one of three venues leaving Cannery Row next year. The other venues in Mercy's complex, The High Watt and Cannery Ballroom, will also relocate when the lease is up in 2022.

Mercy Lounge first opened its doors on Cannery Row in January 2003 and has since grown into one of Nashville's most renowned venues. It expanded its complex in 2005 with the addition of Cannery Ballroom that could hold bigger acts and larger crowds. In 2013, The High Watt opened the complex's smallest venue for emerging artists, according to Mercy Lounge's website.

The Scene reports that a New York-based real estate company purchased the site in 2019, but the owners at the time said it would remain operational. Months later, the pandemic shut down live entertainment venues, leaving the future of live music at the club up in in the air.
