Minnesota High School Cancels Rest Of Football Season Amid Investigation

A Minnesota high school football season has been suspended due to a police investigation.

According to KARE 11, Proctor High School officials canceled the entire season while police investigate a complaint of alleged student misconduct involving the football team.

The season cancellation was confirmed in a statement by Proctor Public Schools Superintendent John Engelking. The statement read:

"As we have stated previously, we learned of alleged serious misconduct that is contrary to the basic elements of being RailStrong, which includes "doing the right thing at all times even when no one is watching" and "representing yourself, your family, your school, and your community in a positive way at all times."

In order to enable us to do our due diligence and to give us the opportunity to properly investigate the allegations, we have made the decision to end our 9-12 grade football team activities for the season. Please know that this decision was not made hastily, and it was made with consultation with the Proctor Police Department, the Minnesota State High School League, the Proctor Public Schools Crisis Team, and legal counsel.

We will take action against substantiated misconduct and we will address any and all problems in the football program; we are absolutely confident that when the program resumes next season, we will be RailStrong by representing our families, school, and community in a positive way both on and off the field and by doing the right thing at all times."

Due to the investigation involving minors, police did not give many details of what entirely occurred.
