Yet another unusual sea creature was found lurking in the waters off the California coast.

According to ABC7, researchers aboard a deep-sea vessel spotted a barreleye fish and they caught the rare sighting on camera.

Barreleyes are also known as "spook fish." They have a transparent and glowing forehead that they can actually see through.

They can rotate their eyes upward to look through the transparent tissue on its head. This allows it to stealthily attack its prey from below.

The rare fish can grow up to 6 inches long and they usually live at a depth of about 2,000 feet.

Back in 2009, scientists at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute caught the barreleye fish on camera for the first time.

The amazing fish is typically found in the tropical-to-temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans.
