The Eagles were missing one key member of their live band during the first date of their resumed 'Hotel California' tour this past weekend in Georgia.
According to the band, singer/guitarist Deacon Frey is expected to miss an indefinite number of shows as he recovers from an undisclosed illness.
"Deacon's bandmates will take over his tour duties in his absence," the band wrote in a statement. "Deacon rejoining the band for performances will be based on his recovery and doctor's recommendations."
It's unclear how severe Frey's illness was. The 27-year-old joined the Eagles in 2017, a year after his father, Eagles co-founder Glenn Frey, passed away.
During Eagles live shows in recent years, Deacon sings lead on a number of his father's signature songs, including "Peaceful Easy Feeling," "Take It Easy," and "Already Gone."
Don Henley has said that the Eagles would have disbanded following Glenn Frey's death, were it not for Deacon's participation in the group.
The Eagles' U.S. 'Hotel California' tour is scheduled to continue through May 25. The band will then head to Europe for more dates in June.
