The Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park is gearing up for a summer opening of an exhibit on one of the most popular superheroes of all time. The "Beyond Amazing: Spider-Man - The Exhibition" is set to open on July 1, according to the Times of San Diego.

Museum officials announced the opening of the exhibit at WonderCon, which is the sister convention of Comic-Con in Anaheim. The exhibit marks the 60th anniversary of Spider-Man. The character first appeared in "Amazing Fantasy" comic book in 1962.

According to the Times, the exhibit will display original art, vintage comics, and artifacts from several of the Spider-Man films. Guests will also have the chance to explore interactive installations and set pieces. "It tells the full story but in the way that only we could do," said Brian Crosby, who is the creative director of themed entertainment for Marvel and the longtime publisher of Spider-Man comics.

The exhibit will hopefully draw more fans to the museum after a slow start due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The museum first opened last November during the same weekend a smaller version of Comic-Con took over San Diego.

Comic-Con officials said the Spider-Man exhibit is part of a plan to create new attractions as well as update existing exhibits to entertain fans.
