A woman from Southern California is now the lucky winner of $10 million thanks to what KGTV reports as an "accidental button push" at a California Lottery Scratchers vending machine.

According to California Lottery officials, LaQuedra Edwards was at a Vons grocery store in the Tarzana area when she put $40 into a Scratchers machine. She was trying to decide which games she wanted to play when she said "some rude person" bumped into her. This caused her to accidentally purchase a $30 200X Scratchers ticket.

Edwards said she didn't plan on playing that particular game. "He just bumped into me, didn’t say a thing and just walked out the door.” While the interaction left Edwards upset at the time, she didn't know that this rude stranger had accidently made a life-changing decision for her.

When Edwards hopped in her car and scratched the ticket, the result was the game's top prize - a whopping $10 million! “I didn’t really believe it at first, but I got on the 405 freeway and kept looking down at (the ticket), and I almost crashed my car," she said in a news release from lottery officials. "I pulled over, looked at it again and again, scanned it with my (California Lottery mobile) app, and I just kept thinking this can’t be right.”

According to KGTV, lottery officials said Edwards plans to use the prize money to purchase a home and start a nonprofit organization.
