Pat Benatar and her husband and longtime collaborator Neil Giraldo shared their excitement at Wednesday's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announcement.
Benatar was nominated for the first time in 2020, but despite a strong showing in the fan voting had to wait until this year to finally get her due as a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer.
"We are thrilled and humbled to become part of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame family," Benatar and Giraldo wrote in a statement via Twitter. "Thank you to everyone who voted, especially the fans, and congratulations to all the other inductees."
Benatar's Rock Hall credentials are unassailable, with four Grammy Awards, five platinum selling albums (including two multi-platinum albums) and 15 Billboard Top 40 singles.
Like several other nominees, Benatar waited a long time for Rock Hall recognition. She first became eligible in 2004.
She is joined in the 2022 class by Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Eminem, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon and Judas Priest.
