A food truck was robbed early Wednesday (December 28) morning in Logan Square, leaving customers and local employees scared for their lives. According to WGN9, the unnamed food truck was parked very close to Bearse Manufacturing Company along the square. Irma, an employee of Bearse Manufacturing Company, stopped at the food truck around 6:54 a.m to get something to eat before work, when all of a sudden, a black car pulled up and men with guns got out.
"The guy put the gun to the guy to sell food and said ‘give me the money’ and I said, 'oh my God, this is real,'" Irma shared of the traumatic scene.
The bystander told WGN9 that she is really nervous to go to work now, given the location of the incident. One of the thieves stole Irma's purse before fleeing the scene. Patricia, another Bearse Manufacturing Company employee, was parked behind the food truck. She was sitting in her car when the robbers came up and tried to get her door open.
"When the guys see me, they say 'open the door, the window, I’ll kill you, I’m going to kill you."
Bearse operations manager Bill Ackerley urged that something needs to be done to improve the current lack of safety in Logan Square. No one was injured or killed during the incident.
