Clay Walker confirmed that his wife, Jessica, has lost the couple’s sixth baby only a few short weeks after they announced that they were expecting a daughter.

“The whole family had been waiting for the baby and it was really, just a huge blow,” Walker told PEOPLE, revealing that his wife had a miscarriage while she was 20 weeks pregnant. “We had her room ready, her clothes bought — everything, and her name, Eleanora Lindsey. So, it was a nightmare and still is for my wife. We were at 20 weeks, and we'd already made it through the toughest part. We've had five successful full-term pregnancies and five beautiful children. It's tough.”

Walker, 53, is father to sons Christiaan, 2, Ezra Stephen, 5, Elijah Craig, 10, and William Clayton, 14. He’s also raising daughters Mary-Elizabeth, 13, plus adult daughters Skylor and MaClay from a previous relationship. Eleanora Lindsey was Baby No. 8 for the country star, who married Jessica in 2007.

Walker told PEOPLE that “everything was so perfect” at the 13-week checkup. Now, the family is relying on prayer to make it through difficult times. He said during his interview with the news outlet, in part: “It felt like we got run over by a train and just watching my wife suffer through that. I feel for all the women out there who have been through a miscarriage, just because you're losing a child. …There's no understanding this for me, and especially for a mom that's the greatest mom. She just tries to be the best mom and wife that she can be. It's unfair.”
