Illinois Lottery Player Wins Huge Jackpot From Holiday Scratch-Off Ticket

One lucky Illinois lottery player recently won a huge prize from a holiday-themed scratch-off ticket just days after it was available in stores. According to a press release, the individual, whose name has yet to be released, won a million dollars by purchasing a $20 Merry Multiplier Instant Ticket.

Per the game's rules detailed on the Illinois Lottery website, players must "match any of your numbers to any of the winning numbers" to win the prize shown for that number. If the ticket shows a winning number, players can "scratch the Merry Mega Multiplier star for that row to reveal a multiplier symbol." This will multiply the prizes won in that row by the multiplier that is revealed.

The winning ticket was sold in Chicago at Super Shopper Food Mart, located at 1351 West 79th Street. This lottery player is not the only one who will benefit from the $1 million prize. Just for being the establishment to sell the ticket, the Super Shopper Food Mart will receive $10,000! The winner has one year from the date of purchase to claim their prize. If they fail to do so; the money will go to Illinois' Common School Fund to purchase technology and supplies for children attending public schools across the state.
