Kelly Clarkson paid tribute to King of Country George Strait with a rendition of his heartfelt ballad, “Carrying Your Love With Me.” Strait released the song as the title track of his 10-track album in the 90s. It became one of the Texas-born legend’s biggest hits of his career, along with “Amarillo by Morning,” “Check Yes or No,” “Write This Down,” “All My Ex’s Live In Texas” and many others.
“'Cause I'm carryin' your love with me/ West Virginia down to Tennesse/ I’ll be movin' with the good Lord's speed/ Carryin' your love with me/ It's my strength for holdin' on/ Every minute that I have to be gone/ I’ll have everything I'll ever need/ I’m carryin' your love with me”
Clarkson delivered her rendition of the country classic during her “Kellyoke” performance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. It was the latest time Clarkson, who is also from the Lone Star State, has performed country music on her show. Earlier this week, she also joined reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson on a duet version of her latest single, “Country’s Cool Again.” Clarkson also put her own spin on hits by Bailey Zimmerman, Jelly Roll, Jo Dee Messina, Lee Ann Womack, Keith Whitley, Kelsea Ballerini, Kacey Musgraves, Keith Urban and many others. Wilson, when speaking about Clarkson’s cover of “Heart Like A Truck,” said when the original American Idol champion performs, “you can feel it from the top of your head to the tips of your toes with every ounce of you.”
